To the moon: Obama, Gingrich
Amid the fuss about Newt Gingrich’s proposal that the U.S. establish a colony on the moon, and Ron Paul’s suggestion that some politicians be sent there, we asked Americans which one of the presidential candidates they’d like sent to the moon.
America’s answer: Barack Obama 39%, Newt Gingrich 22%, Mitt Romney 8%, Ron Paul 7%, Rick Santorum, 6%, no opinion 19%.
Not surprisingly, responses came along partisan lines.
Among Republicans: Obama 57%, Gingrich 10%, Romney 7%, Paul 6%, Santorum 3%, no opinion 17%.
Democrats: Gingrich 38%, Obama 26%, Romney 13%, Paul 5%, Santorum 2%, no opinion 16%.
Independents: Obama 31%, Gingrich 18%, Santorum 15%, Paul 9%, Romney 3%, no opinion 25%.

Poll Position’s scientific telephone survey of 1,186 registered voters nationwide was conducted January 29, 2012 and has a margin of error of ±3%. Poll results are weighted to be a representative sampling of all American adults.
