47%: More GOP debates

With 19 GOP presidential candidate debates so far this campaign season, Fox News’s Chris Wallace calls the high number of debates “stupid” and “insane,” but Republican voters say they want more of them.

Our national Poll Position-TV Newser scientific polling found Republican voters want more debates by a 47%-40% margin.

In recent months, GOP debates have been hosted and televised by ABC, Bloomberg, CBS, CNBC, CNN, Fox News, MSNBC, and NBC.  Chris Wallace took part in two of the Fox News-hosted debates.

Senator John McCain sides with Wallace in saying there are too many debates.

At least four month debates are slated in the weeks ahead, although it is unclear if any or all of them they will take place.

In our Jan. 29 national scientific telephone survey, we questioned 568 registered voters who said they’d vote in their state’s Republican primary or caucus.  The poll has a margin of error of +/- 4%.
