Ban all tax increases?
Would you support or oppose a ban on all tax increases?
When we put that question to the American people, 42% said they’d support such a ban, 39% said they’d oppose a tax increase ban, and 19% expressed no opinion.
The partisan divide on this issue is significant.
Democrats: 51% opposed the idea of a tax increase ban, 28% would support a tax increase ban, and 21% expressed no opinion.
Republicans: 58% would support a tax increase ban, 24% would oppose a tax increase ban, and 19% expressed no opinion.
Independents: 43% would oppose a tax increase ban, 39% would support a tax increase ban, 18% expressed no opinion.
Poll Position’s scientific telephone survey of 1,155 registered voters nationwide was conducted January 8, 2012. Poll results are weighted to be a representative sampling of all American adults.
