Who’s traveling during holidays?
When we asked Americans whether they plan to travel at least 100 miles from home during the Christmas or new year’s holidays, the answer varied depending on age group and political affilaition.
Overall, 29% of Americans say they have holiday travel plans. That includes 36% of Republicans, 24% of Democrats, and 28% of independents.
By age group with travel plans: 36% of 18-29 year olds, 32% of 30-44 year olds, 29% of 45-64 year olds, and 19% of 65+ year olds.
Poll Position’s scientific telephone survey of 1,356 registered voters nationwide was conducted December 11, 2011 and has a margin of error of ±3%. Poll results are weighted to be a representative sampling of all American adults.
