Who is Donald Trump?
He is a man who wears many hats, but almost half of all Americans view Donald Trump as a businessman. In a Poll Position national scientific telephone survey, 48% consider Trump a businessman, 26% say he is an entertainer, 2% see Trump as a politician, 11% said Trump is all of the these, but 10% said they don’t see Trump as any of these.
Trump has been in the news recently for his one-on-one meetings with Republican candidates seeking to win the nomination for president. Trump is also scheduled to moderate a debate for the GOP candidates prior to the upcoming Iowa caucus.
Along political lines Trump is seen more as a businessman with 54% considering him a businessman, 45% of Democrats see Trump as a businessman, 44% of Independents consider Trump a businessman. Trump polled at 2% or lower among these groups when asked if they consider him a politician.
Only one group, those aged 18-29, consider Trump as more of an entertainer than businessman. Among that age group, 39% consider Trump an entertainer, 32% said businessman, while 0% considered Trump a politician.
Poll Position’s scientific telephone survey of 1,142 registered voters nationwide was conducted December 6, 2011 and has a margin of error of ±3%. Poll results are weighted to be a representative sampling of all American adults.
