70%: Info on Facebook OK
With security of personal information on the internet a major concern, Poll Position has a question for you. Are you comfortable with the personal information you provide on Facebook? In a Poll Position national scientific telephone survey, 70% of Facebook users said they were comfortable with personal information they give out on the site, 23% were not, 7% had no opinion.
Young people were far more comfortable than older people. In the 18-29 year old age group, 81% of Facebook users said they were OK with the personal information they provide on Facebook, while 19% are not. Of Facebook users in the 65 and older category, just 50% felt comfortable with personal information provided, 27% did not, 23% had no opinion.
Women felt more comfortable than men with 74% of women saying it was OK, versus 63% of men who said they felt comfortable with the personal info they provide on Facebook.
Poll Position’s scientific telephone survey of 1,174 registered voters nationwide was conducted December 1, 2011 and has a margin of error of ±3%. Of those, 496 told us they were Facebook users providing a margin of error of ±4%. Poll results are weighted to be a representative sampling of all American adults.
