The brief, 72 day marriage between Kim Kardashian and NBA basketball player Kris Humphries has people talking. We wanted to know what you think, so we asked. In a Poll Position national scientific phone survey, 55% of Americans said the marriage was a publicity stunt and a way to make money, 15% thought it was just a way to make money. Only 8% of those polled thought the marriage was sincere and for love. Twenty-three percent did not have an opinion.

Men and women were close in their thoughts on the wedding and quick divorce. Among women, 56% said it was a publicity stunt and a way to make money, 13% said it was just a way to make money, 8% thought it was sincere and 23% offered no opinion. Men weighed in with 53% calling it a publicity stunt and a way to make money, 17% said it was just for the money, 8% said the marriage was sincere and for love and 22% did not have an opinion.

One category, young people in the 18-29 year old group, was a little more forgiving. Twenty-two percent thought the wedding was sincere and for love, 53% called it a publicity stunt and a way to make money, 7% said it was just a way to make money and 17% did not have an opinion.

Poll Position’s scientific telephone survey of 1,066 registered voters nationwide was conducted November 03, 2011 and has a margin of error of ±3%.
