81%: Too much Kardashians

With the news of Kim Kardashian’s 72-day-old marriage to NBA player Kris Humphries coming to an end, we wondered what you think about media coverage of the Kardashians. In a Poll Position national telephone survey, Americans were clear on the topic ,with 81% saying there is too much coverage, 4% saying not enough coverage, and 3% opting for just the right amount of coverage.

Men and women both seem to have had enough of the Kardashians, with 83% of men saying there is too much coverage of the family, and 80% of women agreeing. Only 2% of men think there is not enough coverage of the Kardashians.

African-Americans and whites differed somewhat on the question. Sixty-seven percent of African-Americans said there is too much coverage, but 16% said there is not enough coverage, while 4% said there is just the right amount.

Among whites, 82% picked too much, only 3% said not enough, with the same number, 3% choosing just the right amount of media attention for the Kardashians.

There is no silver lining for the family among young people. In the 18-29 year old group, 85% said there is too much coverage, 8% said not enough and 4% chose just the right amount. Among 30-44 year olds, 85% also said too much, 5% said not enough with only 1% saying there is just the right amount of coverage.

Poll Position’s scientific telephone survey of 1,032 registered voters nationwide was conducted November 01, 2011 and has a margin of error of ±3%.
