How will it end?
With the Occupy Wall Street (OWS) protests well into their second month, we want to know how you think they will end. In a Poll Position scientific national telephone survey 45% say the protests will just fizzle out, 26% think authorities will force an end to the protests, 18% say the protesters will say they achieved their goals and declare victory and 11% did not have an opinion.
Democrats and Republicans differ on how OWS will end, especially in one area. Twenty-none percent of Democrats polled said the protesters will say they achieved their colas and declare victory compared to only 8% of Republicans who thought that would be the outcome.
Views along racial lines were fairly similar except for use of force choice. Thirty-three percent of African-Americans said the authorities would forcefully shut down the protests compared to 18% of whites thinking that would be the outcome. Both groups thought the protests would fizzle out with 46% of whites choosing that option and 41% of African-Americans opting for that choice.
Poll Position’s scientific telephone survey of 1,110 registered voters nationwide was conducted October 23, 2011 and has a margin of error of ±3%.
