Occupy Wall St. or Tea Party?

The Occupy Wall Street and Tea Party movements are garnering roughly the same amount of support among Americans, with 36% saying they support the Occupy Wall Street movement and 35% saying they support the Tea Party.  The 1% difference falls within the poll’s 3% margin of error.

The Occupy Wall Street movement’s strongest support comes from Democrats (56%) and the 18-29 age group, 45% of whom back the movement, while the Tea Party’s strongest support comes from Republicans (55%) and the 30-44 age group (47%).

Poll Position’s scientific telephone survey of 1,033 adults nationwide was conducted October 6, 2011 and has a margin of error of ±3%.
